In all my years traveling, we’ve never encountered a home that embraced me as “home” more than this, idyllic, spiritual wonderland, lovingly called “Habitat.” This is easily our favorite rental property in the universe. We enjoyed Adirondack chairs tucked by a river laced with happy frogs, so we could dip our toes… a sacred tent secluded in a grove of trees on the property, for meditation… a hot tub set in the perfect spot for stargazing… multiple swings hanging on strong trees… acres of grass and paths to explore… and prayer flags and surprises at every turn. Inside THE BARN, we were treated to a decorator’s dream! The master opened out to a massive deck upstairs, letting sunrise illuminate the bedroom each morning. The panoramic kitchen window made dishwashing an absolute bird-watching joy. Multiple firepits and ample free wood kept us warm. The thoughtful touches throughout, from a perfectly-curated bookshelf of poetry and tarot cards to a shrine to nature greeting at the front door – from the best coffee beans I’ve ever sipped – to extras, like bug spray, make-up wipes – and outlets to charge any device… no hospitable detail was left unconsidered. Most notably, we felt the tremendous respect Lesley and Bob (our hosts) had for Taos, it’s culture and its sacred history, evident in every design and architectural choice in this glorious habitat. In addition to all of this, they gave us invaluable advice on local sightseeing, restaurants and led us to a breathwork guru named Ru who gave us a heart-healing session, just before we departed. This special, meaningful sanctuary will be an annual retreat for we hardworking, “GenX momfolk” to return to yearly, for relaxation, recharge and respite. Thank you, Lesley and Bob, for sharing your magnificent home and your generous hearts. All was perfect. The only thing we didn't love is that we had to leave this magnificent sanctuary. — Sara
